Hard drive advice for photos

hi,

 

i'm upgrading system due lack of space , need hard drive advice.

i have 4 drives in system atm: 1 os , software, 1 lr catalogue , other stuff , 2 in raid1 configuration photos.

over years i've lost number of drives, either viruses or drive failures. reliability nr.1 concern here.

i rearange drives , add 1 in, system this:

 

#1: 160gb - os + software

#2: 320gb - lr catalogue + scratch stuff

#3: raid 1 photos

#4: raid 1 photos

#5: 320gb - internal backup (clone of os drive , lr catalogue (currently @ around 40gb))

 

i have 2 external drives, i'll use make additional copy of photos drives.

 

anyhow, that's configuration, on drives.

i use 2 - 320gb seagate drives photos drive , have 10gb of space left. looking 2 new drives replace these two.

i thinking 750gb or 1tb , wd brand. had fujitsu, seagate, maxtor wd. wd never died on my.. yet @ least :s

 

so went wd site (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/productcatalog.asp?language=en), have great overview of models

and began look. have 2 1tb wd caviar green (wd10eads) living room multimedia system , work great. cool , quiet. know alter spinning speed due needs, i'm not sure if right choice photos drive. sure wish be, cool, quiet, cheap, eco friendly.. wd enterprise/raid drives great choice, expencive. 1 costs same 2 caviar green ones :s

then got thinking, need speed photos drive? sure, speed needed when transfer new photos on , lr need catalogue them, after that? use lr catalogue when editing photos, , catalogue on drive anyhow.

so important photos drive? if use wd brand, drive use/reccomend?

 

 

on different note, feel raid1 photo storage? know duplicates , great if 1 drive fails, duplicates problems, viruses, corrupt date, etc.. 2 independend drives daily clone function better choice?

sounds first thing need antivirus program , maybe start using firefox rather ie.

 

i have green drive ready go haven't decided how use it.  thinking backup drive because tend turn noisy 1t fantom drive on when run backups (i them manually).  have lightroom data , images on external drives.  have additional issue take primary drive me when travel in summer.

Installation database is corrupt

dear all,   last month installed trial version of cs3 on pc , when decided install extended version of cs3, it  didn't install.  learned adobe use wincs3clean script, downloaded , ran on computer, using level 1. after tried installing extended version of cs3 got message "installation database corrupt" , can't install cs3.  can me , let me know how solve problem? use windows, xp 2. appreciate help. charleshhh install what... disc or download   if download... rename original , download again... downloads corrupted More discussions in Photoshop Windows (read only) adobe
