Benefit of using a quick mask to help isolate/select an image?

i'm following tutorial in book bought (photoshop cs4 classroom in book) , there's tutorial in i'm selecting image lasso tool , creating mask , using brush paint can hone in on exact selection.  i'm not quite sure benefit mask ... ? much

when selecting using normal selection tools, have @ disposal selection tools. when go quick mask can use of photoshop refine selection, can paint brush tool, can apply filter or image adjustment, can use burn , dodge tools, etc.

Error compiling for board Arduino/Genuino Uno.
