Thread: HD Space Mysteriously Dissapears

about week ago installed 9.10 onto laptop, dual-booting windows 7. shrinked windows 7 partition 500gb 490gb. out of 10gb, 2gb went swap.

had set windows partition automatically mounted every single time ubuntu started up, didn't need manually mount it. ubuntu worked wonderfully until now. 2 days ago, checked free space in ubuntu partition out of curiosity , showed 4gb of free space. today, however, got error message warning me had 40mb of space left. 10 minutes , reboot later, 10mb. it's @ 0.

did absolutely nothing, except write couple text files, download couple images, , compile couple .out files. did access files stored in windows partition. however, cannot see space going. can't run kdirstat because of lack of free space. seems literally disappearing.

sudo apt-get clean
