Thread: Duplicate Drives in "Places"

just moved ubuntu xp. whole process has gone smoothly, left small problem (i.e. isn't affecting usability) don't seem able fix , can't find on forums/internet. have problem floppy drive, i've seen problem elsewhere in forums.

it's dual boot system both ntfs , ext4 drives. visible , accessible. decided convert 1 of ntfs drive ext4. appeared successful , remounted ext4 drive. drive label "data". did have bit of problem getting remounted see/use under log-in opposed under root. it's @ point think did create problem.

have 2 entries "data" in drop down menu places. true 1 shown standard hard drive icon, false 1 shown different icon - possibly external drive icon (note floppy drive showing same icon , can't access that, i've seen that's problem elsewhere in forums).

can write , read true "data" hard drive. if click on other false "data" icon, message "mount: /dev/sdd1 mounted or /media/data busy mount: according mtab, /dev/sdd1 mounted on /media/data". if unmount true drive , try mount false drive, system mounts true drive instead.

if log nautilus root, neither false data drive or floppy appear in left hand panel.

suggestions? please reasonably explicit ideas/instructions i'm newbie in linux. thanks.

post copy /etc/fstab.

believe nautilus shows drive , drives mounted in media , mnt , maybe else not sure.

created data directory , mounted it, gave self permissions , ownership , linked in folders. set data directory default folder sin /home , few others. way see data thru linked folders standard folders in /home.

similar how did data partition:
