Simsun font

i have microsoft word document translations in chinese using simsun font. can see text in word, when copy , paste indesign appears selection of boxes pinkish background. have checked font on pc - shows ttc, not ttf, selectable in microsoft products , not adobe ones.

what can text view in simsun or chinese font in indesign?

that's weird -- version of simsun regular ttf.

 

you can change chinese characters other font supports chinese. cs packages come plethora of fonts -- if don't have them installed, check dvds fonts folder. chinese fonts adobe heiti, kaiti, song, , fangsong. beware, though, not of fonts have "all" of characters (as there no such notion :-)). use "find font" change, or (better) use find & replace change simsun appropriate character style.

additionally, weird word automatically uses font if document uses characters not in 'default' font. if replace fonts in indesign document , still see unformatted ones (pink), try grep search chinese characters. expression

 

[\x{3000}-\x{feff}]

 

should find most, if not all.
