Aquarium Automatic Top Off System
i have been searching , not finding having done want do. not sure if better suited project arduino or pi seeking little guidance. dumb version simple , have worked out already. 4 switches, dual relay board, dual output power supply , 12v dc pump.
two switches in series aquarium itself. 1 water level normal open, closes when water level drops. second closed , above first...it opens water touches prevent on fill should primary switch fail open again @ normal water level.
in top off reservoir there 2 more switches @ same level. 1 normal closed , in series 2 above , 4th switch solo , closed. reservoir empty opens 1 of 3 prevent pump running dry. 4th closes , sets off flashing led , chirping alarm.
all of simple enough, done, tested , functioning.
where "smarts" come in notification , data gathering. have 0 idea how or done.
so, thoughts?

- in addition basic alarm described above 4th switch trigger text alert phone and/or email. either device on wifi network or drop network cable. stop here , happy why stop right?
- it nice set time run limit on pump secondary safety upper switch.
- monitor how pump runs , how long.
- if timer or upper switch kills pump send alert , maybe keep offline till manually.
- what water temp , ambient air temp when pump runs...and maybe measure humidity well.
so, thoughts?
