RC CAR
hello wondering if on a little personal project, intending create rc car entirely scratch using arduino boards , other parts such as:
-banebots rs-540 12v 17200 rpm brushed dc motor
-hs-422 servo motor
which controlled by:
-kuman ky58 l293d motor drive shield expansion board arduino duemilanove mega uno r3 avr atmel
-arduino uno
my question kind of power supply should use , need voltage regulator or of sort in order not burn out board( hoping low-cost power supply due budget limitations).

an rs540 motor can take lot of amps iirc. l293 can provide 1 amp.
you need suitable motor driver can comfortably supply current needed motor. pololu website has many examples - other suppliers.
many rc cars use electronic speed controllers (esc) controlled arduino servo library.
