Growing problem watching videos in Elements 7

i installed pse5 , premiere 3 part of package couple years ago. @ time able watch videos in elements 5, including relatively unusual formats such .m2t, of course .avis.

 

i upgraded pse7 few months (no upgrade premiere however). around time found no longer watch or import .m2ts or .mp4s. cant sure if @ time of upgrade problem occurred, hadn’t tried using either pse5 or pse7 purpose while.

 

within last week or so, have found can no longer view .avis. have been able in pse7 in past. whenever try, whole of elements crash (one of few times have seen pse7 that). .

 

other possibly relevant changes computer have occurred on time installation of sony vegas movie studio , pixela viewing software came canon avchd camcorder.

 

i appreciate highly technical, highly tedious question dealing codecs , like. direct of course fantastic, barring on basics try sort out great.

 

1. viewer in pse7 dependant in way on having premiere installed?

 

2. other programs possibly interfering pse7s ability show video? there way troubleshoot without ‘uninstall other software first….’

 

3. there codec pack can download or buy solve these issues? don’t mind spending bit more money, want work.

 

4. can suggest photoshop elements website or book deals video issues such this, or have people deal lot in watching videos within pse7 itself. every time try search pse7 , ‘video’ or ‘movie’ inundated links generic training videos etc. , 446 page adobe pse pdf no help, neither kelby’s pse7 book. 99.999% of info out there have been able find deals pictures not video. understand people use pse7 photos, use organize videos well.

 

any help, @ all, can given, if pointing me in right direction, great.

maybe there compatibilty issue between pse7 , pre3.try upgrading pre also.
