i'm using ubuntu 9.10. every ten minutes monitor goes black, , immeditately returns when move mouse. thought must screensaver. went system->preferences->screensaver , unchecked activate screensaver when computer idle. didn't solve issue. went power management , made sure "put display sleep when inactive for" "never" , set default. went startup applications , disabled (unchecked) screensaver. monitor still goes dark every ten minutes. please me. want turn off. can't read book! it's (unsupported) opinion settings made in power management don't reliably take effect. try setting , rebooting straight away. hello everyone,   while unclear if particular question belongs in forum going give shot.   info: i using abode professional 8.1.3 (assumed), , have cs3 installed upon computer. pdf's produced using esri product - arcmap 9.3.   problem: i have hunderds of pdf's need print out sets on regular basis. instead of organizing them individual folders i'd rather able print or locate group of pdf's based on tag or maybe metadata key word.   so here situation/example, have 300 pdf's contain maps of communties within county in united states.   each pdf numbered , named specific standard maps_firm_106, 108, 109 etc... i have table specifies communties acutally shown on each pdf. table list part of pdf name , contains name of towns (town a, town b, town c) if map/pdf has town , town b, table list both.  if shows stuff in town a, mention one. is there way embed metadata keyword tag based on excel table, database or else? thus when search folder metadata, know pdfs contain each co

hello, i'm brand new ubuntu, , these forums, please forgive protocol errors. running ubuntu 9.10. have installed vmware player 3.0.0 build-203739 , has worked. (i installed image of 9.10 on it, can practice learning linux , not worry damaging real install. far, works perfectly! yay that!) trying use windows xp on vmware player, , seems going fine, until has 33 minutes left on install , hangs hours. no error message. hangs. if can point me in right direction, , using small words , little tech-speak appreciated! hi, i want build "secret box" : box locked , must unlocked using secret code. i have no problem electronic , programming parts. but i'm looking best solution arduino controlled "mini lock". the goal :  - have box locked everytime, on power off  - power on box, type code  - if ok, unlock box  - autoshut-down so lock should powered using battery source (a 9v or 4 aaa batteries). i'm thinking using mini solenoid (push-pull lock) or mini stepper motor (to turn little metal part lock box) i want have locker small possible. the solenoid seems power greedy, mechanical work have micro-stepper based lock seems difficult (for small locker) so i'm thinking magnet solution : using permanent magnet lock box. the permanent magnet should "stuck" small electromagnet when electromagnet off. and permanent magnet should "pushed" small electromagnet when it's on (playing magnet polarities) do have idea or advice ? thanks

i have technical communication suite and, reason, can't save fm 8 pdf or pdf review. when try, following error:   "framemaker not find adobe pdf printer instance, must installed execute save pdf command."   a few weeks ago, didn't have menu option save pdf, had tech comm suite reinstalled. couldn't save pdf framemaker 8, robohelp7 , or word 2003. had tech comm suite reinstalled again. can save pdf robohelp , word, still no luck framemaker 8.   i have acrobat distiller 8 , adobe acrobat 3d version 8. prior 1 of reinstalls, discovered had older version of distiller, has been removed.   anyone have thoughts?   thanks. look in printers folder , see if have logical printer named adobe pdf or similar set up. should set system default printer.   then instead of using saveas, frame, print logical printer instance , see if works.   as general rule, printing pdf printer preferred on using saveas less reliable...   art More discussions in Adobe FrameMaker adobe
