Thread: Non-Security update policy

hi all,

i'd thought i'd able find simple answer to, haven't been able to, so...

1 of main reasons switched on debian ubuntu ubuntu supposedly faster updated versions of programs. example, @ time firefox 3.0 out debian had been stuck on 2.x ages no signs of ever catching up.

find ubuntu more or less same thing. firefox 3.6 has been out decent amount of time, haven't seen update 3.5.7 yet. worse, mythtv has been on 0.22-rc1 ever since installed ubuntu 9.10. 0.22 had been released shortly after, no updates yet. realise rc-to-official isn't big deal, still.

there central place ubuntu developers list projects , plans on getting updated versions? know can compile , install programs, , if no updates forthcoming, i'd rather not if there update in near future.

i take don't want switch debian unstable (sid) in order cutting-edge software...

software developers put out .deb versions of programs don't have install.

don't recommend jumping newest software versions when there isn't new feature want (except security updates easy , do).
