Thread: Ra73 driver swap on Ubuntu makes USB adapter disappear . How do I bring it back?

i using ubuntu incredible ibex on lenovo t400 hawking hwug1 usb adapter. capturing wpa handshakes enough aircrack-ng. didn’t satisfy cowpatty.

the built-in wireless adapter on lenovo t400 appeared wlan0. hwug1 usb adapter appeared wlan1. “airmon-ng start wlan1” command configured hwug usb adapter mon0.

things okay not great. wanted use cowpatty , rainbow tables captures weren’t satisfactory, except ones on own router 5 feet away. tried using 3 foot omni 12 db antenna

i started suspect drivers.i using drivers came ubuntu incredible ibex.

i saw website http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=rt73 , followed instructions install rt73-k2wrlz-3.0.3 driver.

when ran “airmon-ng start wlan1”, saw hawking indeed rausb0 , using rt73 driver.

when ran “aireplay” on wifi router de authenticate myself got 0/0 acks. getting (63/66 acks).it happened on other test routers.

so did more reading , thinking rt73-k2wrlz-3.0.3.driver incompatible incredible ibex kernel , ubuntu. found site http://mcmlxxii.co.uk/2008/10/22/rt73-ubuntu-intrepid-8-10/ , followed instructions install rt73-cvs-daily driver. didn’t install wicd.

after that, hwug1 usb disappeared wlan1. doesn’t show when run “ifconfig” command. built-in onboard wireless adapter shows wlan0.

how can bring wlan1 , hawking hwug1 usb adapter? furthermore how can reinstate original driver using?

do think usb adapter dying? new driver displayed quite few ap's under airodump perhaps tx function lost.
