problem: grsync syntax puzzling me

detail: error message when trying grsync nas external usb hd off site backup. goal have new files updated every few months , keep hd in location:

rsync: opendir "/media/nas_storage/.systemfile" failed: permission denied (13)  rsync error: files/attrs not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) @ main.c(1058) [sender=3.0.5]

this how have set grsync exclusions:

--exclude=".systemfile", --exclude="nas_prog", --exclude="bt"

my set on grsync is:

preserve time, verbose, show transfer progress.

i thought had understood syntax of how exclude file/folder. given error message, dont have right.

check how permissions set on /media/nas_storage unit, try running root (or sudo); review options drive on fstab file.
