ATTiny85V + TIP122 transistor to explode giant balloons

hi

i'm working on device detect vibration of projectile's impact on giant latex balloon , allow sufficient current pass through heating element explode balloon.

in truth, have managed create working prototype, firstly using arduino uno, , arduino nano (in attempt reduce physical size). in both cases, circuit powered 9 volts 6xaa batteries. piezo disc detected vibration of impact, arduino switched output pin high connected base of tip122 allowed current 6xaa flow through estes solar rocket starter heating element. worked well. can see result in action here.

in order shrink/improve device, more, trying replace arduino nano attiny85v , rocket starter remote control engine glow plug having trouble , hope advice.

the attiny85v being powered 2xaa batteries.
the glow plug can use 1.5 - 3.0v power supply , draws around 2.5 amps supply 1.5 seconds switched on.

i have attached schematic of test circuit. doesn't include piezo sensor because 'side' of circuit works planned. includes 'ignition' side of circuit can't working.

pb3 on attiny85v switches high when push button switch activated. in turn, pb2 switched high supplying current base of tip122 transistor, allowing flow of current through glow plug igniter 1.5 seconds.
the 3v supply on schematic provided pair of aa batteries.

problem is, can't sufficient current flow through glow plug , don't understand why.

i have used various size resistors @ r2 without success. have removed r2 (bad option, have learned) still glow plug not glow.

am asking of tip122? there better option?
the glow plug glows if connected directly single 1.5v aa battery, not if connected via transistor.

hopefully

moderator edit: pdf.  ugh.

i'm thinking around 1k.

...and think need more voltage (another battery or two).

does glow-plug glow when directly connected batteries?

do have multi-meter?

you're going voltage drop batteries when drawing 2.5a.   don't know how much, if can measure battery voltage glow-plug attached, that.

then you're getting voltage drop across transistor , suspect that's real problem.

low collector−emitter saturation voltage −
vce(sat) = 2.0 vdc (max) @ ic = 3.0 adc
= 4.0 vdc (max) @ ic = 5.0 adc
...is glow plug fast enough?   i assume takes fraction of second before starts glow?
