Thread: Problems with Gnome Power Manager upon startup?

i've had problem once before , wasn't able resolve without doing reinstall of ubuntu 9.10: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1383725

problem happened both times, far can tell, after installing suggested updates , restarting. last night, installed program through synaptic package manager without, far know, installing else besides dependencies (ie, didn't install of updates requested in update manager).

restarted afterward , after appearing boot properly, i'm presented simplistic login screen login/pass don't allow me access desktop. per how incorrect login/pass info treated , correct login/pass being handled differently, know correct login/pass isn't errantly being handled bad login/pass. also, there's notification part of login screen in upper right says: "install problem! configuration defaults gnome power manager have not been install correctly. please contact computer administrator."

after 'logging in', computer works minute , sends me same simplistic login screen.

can me ubuntu partition in working order without having reinstall?

phew, able fix this.
