Closing gaps in Illustrations??

i can't figure out how draw in illustrator because seems impossible connect lines.  once line drawn no matter how hard try, second line @ least pixel away previous line's end point, , none of lines connect.

can draw picture , select whole thing , somehow close these stupid 1 pixel gaps @ once?  see can select end points of 2 lines , connect them -but take thousand times longer drawing on paper, defeats purpose of using program me.  how can people draw anything?

well, in short, read documentation on how program works , practice.

 

what tool using draw "lines"? "lines" ambiguous term. in vector drawing program, draw paths. primary tool drawing continuous paths precision pen tool. can learn basics of using perusing online help.

 

if trying "sketch freehand" couple of drawing tools present in vector drawing programs somewhat that. in illustrator, paintbrush , pencil. doubleclick either of them see dialog lets toggle couple of options: keep selected , edit selected paths. experiment (and read online help).

there added feature (livepaint) lets put bunch of overlapping , disconnected paths paths drawn in loosey-goosey fashion, group them special so-called "livepaint group", , "flood-fill" , "flood-stroke" them color. again, it's explained in online help.

 

so there accommodation freeform "sketchy" drawing in vector drawing programs. users use graphics tablet & stylus features. of "extra" tagged-on stuff. sketchy drawing pencil not going supple in vector program of illustrator's type accustomed in raster programs. heart , soul of traditional vector program pen tool.

 

a few younger vector programs more "painterly-responsive" if is, in fact, expecting. flash's vector tools quick , easy , act more "painting" in simple (limited) raster program, because that's does: swipe across screen pixels , flash auto-traces swipe on-the-fly. illustrator cs4's blob tool similar.

 

xara xtreme faster , more responsive in kind of use illustrator, , more "fleshed out" drawing tools flash.

 

microsoft owns vector drawing program called expression. it's claim fame more "painterly" interface (and translucence) in vector drawing.

 

i'm not saying can't use illustrator way. heritage of "big four" vector drawing programs (illustrator, freehand, corel draw, canvas) oriented toward drawing bezier paths measure of deliberate accuracy, point-by-point, using pen tool.

thank you, krumlin. yes, utterly ridiculous illustrator cannot join more 2 open paths @ time, , requires tedously select endpoints. of have been saying literal decades.
