Thread: installing g++ in ubuntu 9.04


i unable install g++ package running c++ programs.when try install following mesage

fslab@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install g++
reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information... done
package g++ not available, referred package.
may mean package missing, has been obsoleted, or
available source
e: package g++ has no installation candidate

kindly reply how fix problem

not sure what's causing error, try "sudo apt-get install build-essential". need able compile c or c++ programs. after that, "g++" should work.
