Publish content without menu item? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i have static page discusses topic, we'll call page a.  can access page directly via menu item.  no problem there.

now page a, i'd link static page, page b, has more in depth information.  how can publish page b without supplying direct menu link or creating blog section/category (since don't need either)?

in other words, how can link 1 page "uncategorized" page isn't accessible via other means?

thanks!

hi tdog. joomla! there different ways achieve one's goal , i'm sure others here able recommend solutions besides mine. in new article (page in example), you'd highlight text want use hyperlink , click insert/edit link icon. specify in link url text box url of article want link (page b).

now technically, basic hard link uncategorised article using following url syntax:

index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=id

where id numerical id of article want link (it may 3 or 112 or whatever). can find id editing article , looking @ article id field on right-hand side of screen.

as menus pretty heart of joomla! in opinion, similar approach still create menu item  new menu item you'll use link uncategorised article won't publish menu item (so menu item won't appear in menu on site). when creating new menu item, copy text link text box of menu item details section , use url link to.

the link syntax can made lot more complicated. example, can use &itemid=itemid specify menu item highlight when linked page displayed, &limitstart=n jump specific page number multi-page article, , &limit=n display number of articles. it's nice experiment these.

hope helps now.
