No tools show selection

hi, first of i'd i've looked through pages , pages of forum looking answer following problem...i appologise if it's been covered , i've missed post...

 

vista home premium 32bit

photoshop cs4  extended

 

problem got no matter tool use, (marquee, wand, lassoo, ellipse) etc, don't see area/marching ants being selected untill release mouse button.

eg, open image in ps

select rectangle marquee tool

place mouse arrow on image

left click once , hold

drag pointer required point

nothing different shown on screen no marching ant box

release left mouse button

marching ant box seen.

 

same pc being used has photoshop 7 on , prog runs fine, or @ least should do...

 

have checked prog settings , couldn't find obvious.

 

have tried changing vista visual settings no avail...

the first question is, have updated ps 11.0.1 , updated video drivers.

 

if you'd looked top you'd have seen this:

 

 

 

solutions common problems

 

the first thing should if have problems whatsoever apply latest photoshop patch (currently 11.0.1) , update video card drivers.

 

if photoshop starts acting weird should reset preferences

Installation database is corrupt

dear all,   last month installed trial version of cs3 on pc , when decided install extended version of cs3, it  didn't install.  learned adobe use wincs3clean script, downloaded , ran on computer, using level 1. after tried installing extended version of cs3 got message "installation database corrupt" , can't install cs3.  can me , let me know how solve problem? use windows, xp 2. appreciate help. charleshhh install what... disc or download   if download... rename original , download again... downloads corrupted More discussions in Photoshop Windows (read only) adobe

esp8266 (nodemcu 0.9) client.write très lent ???
