My Experience With Encore & Blu-ray burning

this whole blu-ray thing being unsupported mac has been frustrating , painful experience!  love editing final cut pro on mac pro, think it's pathetic apple has been slow, when seem ahead of game technology!  basically, ever since i've offered customers hd, needed find way give video on blu-ray.  first tried order burner fast mac.  mistake.  totally unprofessional , never sent product, cancelled.  after researching on internet, purchased lg gbw-h20l , installed inside mac.  later, found on internet:

this article encouraged me, on right track!  anyway, after ordering adobe encore, have - no other program has given me such grief program.  program if reliable!  know program bad when talk customer service , respond "that's encore" - know full it's buggy program, full of cliches, , sell anyway.  that's why can't stress enough - buy bd-re discs!  bd-r discs $10-$15 dollars each, would've given months ago if didn't.

 

here's main problem i've had encore.

 

1.the preview window still isn't totally accurate.  , it's slow.  create , preview never gets burned blu-ray disc!  although there's been improvement updates, it's still unreliable.  end actions. 

2. creating motion menus on bd project can mission!  wow, painful experience i've had this!  if want make simple menus encore - no problem.  if want try professional creative things - warned!  create motion menu in ae, , export photoshop file , movie mpeg-2 or h.264 file.  2 hours later, after i've created menu in encore, project wouldn't work.  "photoshop file error-1" kept appearing on screen when try render , burn.  if able project working - , bothered me - burned blu-ray disc different created , previewed - no surprise there!  happen, duration of motion menu not had typed in.  every time burn, no matter duration enter try "trick" program, loop whenever wanted cutting off motion menu intro had spend days preparing!  , 4 days later, after talking customer support (which did nothing) uninstalling , installing program 3 times , trying kinds of things, figured out causing problem - i've noticed when export photoshop file ae create motion menu, file end being corrupted , messing project.  had open file in ps , create new 1 there, copying on buttons , things had made.  used project , worked!  source of problems.  , it's happened more once.  also, though i'll find out problem , this, i'd still have create whole project on again scratch , use new files in order work.  waste of time! 

3. stupid warning messages!  warning messages when i'm burning saying "disc isn't recognized" or "burner incompatible" - while continues burn , works!  ignore them.  way, i've exported files iso encore , used img burn on windows burn projects seems work faster.

 

 

would buy encore again? 

 

no.  think purchase avid media composer, , use windows side installed on mac (vmware fusion) burning blu-ray, since avid dvd works windows.  still plan on doing this, since final cut/dvdsp has abandoned users , more people in industry seem use avid.  grateful adobe gave opportunity burn right on mac using encore - when works is!

i've discovered many bugs encore , have posted solutions on how around them.

 

i design , sell advanced motion menu templates using after effects motion graphics, encore (or dvdsp) authoring, , photoshop button highlights , cover/label templates. products i've created complete walkthrough video tutorials each program, , freely available anyone. of course if i'm claiming products designed support blu-ray using encore, had show people how create disc without running error messages. had long list of bugs ran into, managed discover caused each , every one, , found solution of them. unique workflow allows successful build of dvd or blu-ray disc using custom motion menus, menu transitions, scene selection menus using chapter index feature, , many other great features of authoring in encore.

 

i agree encore needs lot of polishing before stable program photoshop. however, if know causes bugs, , know how avoid them, won't find better alternative. luckily you, i've posted solutions many of bugs , on right track successful build.
