Thread: ati graphics card graphics card dilema [itronix gobook ix260+]

hello, purchased itronix gobook ix260+ [high spec ruggedized military laptop] off ebay came preloaded windows xp, , more should've deleted hard drive dban out of contempt windows, put ubuntu disc in, semed fine @ first screen got graphics garbled , patches of black on screen , becone unresponsive regardless did. put fedora on there, worked partialy still had many graphical flaws in test part of it. installed , turned on, same reaction ubuntu, deformed pixeles , black screen. wiped hard drive again , started over, tryed ubuntu 9.10 thinking hardware issue , maybe id have etter suport new distro, still same reaction. guy @ geeksquad. fiddeled around , explained few things , said graphics card chipset, [ati radeon rv250 (mobility firegl 9000)]. installed ubuntu in text mode, installed, upon boot had same graphical glitching , unusability, hen went single user mode , did commands , found out card was, , did else try , thing working, came splash screen , froze. store closed , said bring told me muck around first.


here installed linux operating system , no way veiw computer, ask question...

there driver specific chipset specific rugged notebook, , if so, may have directions on how install in single user mode cannot use graphical interface?

please answer, need working laptop, , id prefer not shell out 30 bucks have done want on own dont know how.

that's when go amd's site proprietary linux driver mobility firegl. if open source drivers aren't working, i'm afraid stuck microsoft on machine. ati's linux support sucks. stupid ati card works, it's crippled, have keep dual boot of windows if want gaming.

did bit of reading, seems touchscreen problem.
