Core components & why more code instead of less - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
i have been looking @ tutorials components , comparing components included in core , have seen discrepancies. wondering why core components not structured in same way tutorial.
with due respect, seems core components modified 1.0 enough make them work 1.5.
it seem more logical me have build core joomla! components examples of how should writing 3rd party components joomla!.
furthermore, little frustrated code has written accomplish same tasks in 1.0. of done standard editing, viewing, adding, deleting, etc. has seemed me might better ways make writing standard stuff simpler. in 1.0 difficult because did not have class structure available in 1.5. however, class structure have been nice have had class of standard controller stuff common tasks extend , add/override details non-standard.
if explain reasoning behind how core components built , why lines of code required have increased instead of decreased appreciate it.
i appreciate changes in framework , not attempting rant. trying understand.

why? simple: resources. if check out tracker, find community member has taken initiative finish other components , posted work patches. not did learn how it, gave work. think that's cool.
change create frustration. hopefully, after working awhile, find benefit , ways reuse work. has amazed me pre-university ghop contestants have done joomla! no training, limited documentation, , little direction. imo proof positive of how easy develop in joomla!.
