Captivate 4 can't publish or preview files/sound layers appear black

after re-installing captivate 4, unable preview or publish files.  additionally, sound layers appeared black, empty layers.

i had difficult time finding solution, wanted post here in case else has same problem.

i indicating in searches unable publish or preview files in c4 , not find solution, switched focus of searches audio layers , that's when found solution at: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/adobe_captivate_4_installation.html

 

now, have may not aware.  you should registry anytime make changes , changes registry can cause problems.  having said that, here fix used:.

 

adobe captivate 4 installation issues on microsoft windows xp

you can use subinacl tool microsoft try fixing permission issues in windows registry.
close instances of adobe captivate , following steps -
1) download subinacl tool microsoft download center and install it.
2) download zip file
3) extract zip file in temporary folder. 2 files - restoreregpermcp4.bat, restorecp4regentries.bat
4) copy restoreregpermcp4.bat folder has subinacl.exe installed. typically @ c:\program files\windows resource kits\tools\.
5) double click run restoreregpermcp4.bat file.
6) copy restorecp4regentries.bat folder in captivate 4 installed. typically @ c:\program files\adobe\adobe captivate 4
7) open command prompt , navigate folder.
8) type restorecp4regentries.bat , press enter.
9) make sure messages popup "dllregisterserver in 'some dll name' succeeded"

this should have fixed registry issues , things should work fine.

 

i hope saves hours of searching solution.
