Thread: Issues again with Ubuntu after updates auto-installed?

i've posted problem once previously: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1383725

unfortunately, after not coming resolution previously, reinstalled ubuntu 9.10 , i've again encountered problem.

since reinstalled ubuntu, i've not installed of suggested updates. short time ago installed program via synaptic package manager, though , dependencies , none of other suggested updates far know.

noticed cpu usage @ 100% (inexplicably) , bookmarks had mysteriously disappeared within file browser, figured i'd restart try resolve issue.

after restarting, encountered basic login screen i'd seen before warning in upper right saying: "install problem! configuration defaults gnome power manager have not been install correctly. please contact computer administrator."

can shed light onto how fix this?
