HC12 Range issues @ 115200 baud

hi,
i'm using hc12 modules stubby antennae 433mhz send serial data handheld arduino controller number of receivers, , need 50m in clear los little or no data loss.
however, i'm experiencing major issues of losses outside of 25m seems plain wrong.

i've been reading on antenna requirements , construct 1/2 wave dipole @ rx end(s) extend range, i've been reading modules shouldn't having such shortened range in first place.

according data-sheets, specs , forum entries i'm seeing should expect 100m easily.
has else had similar issues , managed overcome them?

a little detail:
tx:
housing of handheld control unit - plastic, compact.
connected hc12 tx:
100uf capacitor.
arduino; oled screen, rfid module , 2s lipo battery(~8v) in same box.
power hc12 taken arduino 5v supply point along oled.
stubby antenna mounted on outside of housing

rx:
housing - plastic, roomy.
connected hc12 rx:
led matrix , associated driver module requires 115200baud, not selectable unfortunately.
arduino (incidental main data-stream, addressed) series connected same data-stream hc12 matrix driver, 30cm lead.
12v gel-cell battery, 5v 12a psu , piezo sounder
stubby antenna mounted outside of box.

the antennae in same polar plane.
the boxes, being plastic, not provide ground-plane.  part of issues?

the data consists of simple serial text-based commands, sent objective of updating led matrix every second new number.  no handshake, hc12 modules in rx units set lowest gain have no impact on other rx units , expected act dumb serial pass-throughs.  tx module set p8 highest output power.
all works fine within 25m, begins show package losses beyond, failing miserably 30m.

i have experimented different stubbies and, on hunch, wrapping tx hc12 in foil in case interference oled or rfid modules - foil got me 2m more.

settings:
c1
fu3
115200
p8(tx) , p1(rx)

any help, or indication might find solution, appreciated.

the hc12 can draw in excess of 100 ma when transmitting needs own power supply, , stubby helical antennas have poor range.
use @ least 17 cm 1/4 wave antenna.
