menu and module/template assignment. How does it works ? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i'm bit confused joomla thing.
may assign different combinations of modules menu items , childs ? or inherit module position config ?

and templates ? if assign template exclusively child seems not working. if want parent template , child template ?

when first starting out joomla!, pretty confused things. got me on curve reading anna's joomla! tips. have link these tips in signature file (which should tell how important feel are!). think you'd lot out of reading that, , bring you. you're on way getting all!

as questions, each module individually assigned menu items. (modules published parent item not passed child)
module positions set in template's index.php file.

the template question, think perhaps you're looking setting:
from teh backend, go global configuration, content tab
bottom option: itemid compatibility: choose 1.0.11 , before
