Thread: 9.10 Wireless connection set-up

hi, first time posting here apologize if don't quite right.

downloaded ubuntu 9.10 , installed side side windows xp media edition os. have been trying set connection wireless network using windows drivers. have linksys card , found both .ini , .sys files (and ndiswrapper correctly installs driver). having moderate luck using various paths have found on web (iwconfig, etc). however, keep running error "siocsifflags: no file or directory". understand coming ioctl() call. can't figure out file/directory missing. have seen notes needing firmwear files in addition .ini , .sys files types of cards, have read linksys card doesn't need it. appreciated. how tell me file/directory missing?

did at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/wi...cardssupported

many wireless cards "just work." did try?

there many, many *different* linksys cards. if pci card, can exact identification opening accessories/terminal , entering command:
lspci

there's "lsusb" command usb devices.

if there's "network manager" icon @ top-right of screen, can right-click on it, , "add" connection. need know essid, encryption type , password.
