Mysterious embedded rules

i'm bit of newbie @ indesign. have form amend , can't work out how rules have been entered.

for example:

name___________________

the rule extends way beneath word 'name' , way end of text frame. not underline. not paragraph rule. not physically drawn rule.

if insert return , start typing new line, has rule beneath too.

the same technique seems have been used elsewhere achieve white type out of red background.

in quark have used 'rule below', i'm assuming id equivalent 'paragraph rule' , switched off. need duplicate effect - ideas how achieved?

thanks suggestions....

indesign features not one, two kinds of paragraph rules: 1 below , 1 above. default selection in paragraph rule dialog "rule above", , checkbox next not checked if it's not on. have check other one: choose "rule below"  in dropdown list , chances is on.

the reversed-type trick done making rule below thick leading of text , moving appear behind text.
